STVHCS Fisher House

STVHCS serves one of the largest primary care service areas in the nation and is part of the VA Heart of Texas Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 17), providing health care services for 80,000 unique Veterans. In 2011, the Department of Veterans Affairs opened a new state-of-the-art Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center on the campus of the Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, to serve service members and Veterans who have suffered severe mulitple traumatic injuries while serving their country. This is one of only five Level One VA Polytrauma Rehabilitation Centers in the United States, performing a critical role in the recovery of our brave, wounded warriors and Veterans. STVHCS is also home to one of only three Bone Marrow Treatment Unites in the VA and a Spinal Cord Injury Center. All of these inpatient programs serve large geographic populations, requiring patients and families to receive treatment away from their homes and support systems.
